MOVING HOME

I've been working in my position for a little over 5 years now, and I decided awhile back that I wanted to move across the country. I moved here for this position, and now that the
company has grown and opened offices in two other cities, including my
hometown, I thought about the possibility that they would be willing to
move me there. After thinking about it for some time, I decided that I would be much happier and much more productive if I were able to be closer to my family and friends while pursuing my career. I guess I’m kind of a homebody that way. I went to my boss a few weeks ago and asked her what the company’s policy was regarding executive relocation. She gave me a general overview, basically letting me know that they don’t extend this to their employees very often. The company usually does not do it unless there is a need for someone of a particular position in the area, and even then it’s very difficult to get them to agree to it. Basically, unless they decide that there it would be far harder and more costly to find someone already living there to adequately fill the position, I would be out of luck. After talking for awhile with her, we both decided that there was a chance that they would agree to it since my position required me to be promoted into it. I will give it a chance and see if I can find a way to make it happen.
